Abstract:
Infant mortality rate is a statistical indicator that is equal to the number of deceased children under one year of age relative to the number of live births for a given period. The most common causes of infant mortality are pneumonia, dehydration due to diarrhea, malnutrition, malaria and various congenital ailments. It is one of the variables that is usually taken into account in standard of living estimates.
