Abstract:

Bulgarian beekeeping is in a serious crisis in the last years. More than one is the reason for the state of the sector, but according to beekeepers it has reached its bottom and is in a dire need of support – not only financially, but also by a comprehensive government policy and protection, which has lacked recently according to the beekeepers. Many of them give up their activities and sell their apiaries – hives and bee families, because they see no other way out. Others who produce larger quantities of honey see serious problems in its sale. Among the reasons that beekeepers indicate are mass poisonings of bees as a result of agricultural activity.
