Abstract:
The struggle of the Bulgarians for the recognition of the restored Bulgarian state went along with the rehabilitation of the ecclesiastical status of the Bulgarian Church in Southeast Europe. “A kingdom without a patriarch shall not” expresses to a considerable extent the course of the political actions of Peter, Assen, Kaloyan, Boril and Ivan Assen II, in the period under consideration.
