Abstract:

The article is an overview of one of the founding works of the Russian scientist VV Bartholdy “Works on historical geography”, devoted to his studies in Central Asia. The basis of labor studies of the Aral Sea and the Amu Darya, of irrigation system in Turkestan and notes historical topography. Special attention is paid to Islam, including historical and geographical overview of the 111 site.
