Abstract:

The report present the results of a study of the floods in the Beli Lom river basin in 2005 – 2007, the consequences of which have acquired nature of the natural disaster. The analysis was conducted by exposing the chronology, their location in the river basin and the complex of factors that determine them. The factors are: heavy rainfall, morpho-hydrographic, geological and geomorphological, soil and vegetation cover, socioeconomic conditions. The activities carried out by the institutions responsible for reducing the risk of the floods in the basin are presented. Finally, are proposed recommendations which might serve as a method of prevention of risk river basins.
