People with intellectual disabilities are that part of society which, due to its specifics, in most cases remains in a position of dependence on their relatives or the state, without a real opportunity to lead a full life. Often the reason is a lack of skills or a misunderstanding that they cannot master them. The connection between skills, independence and empowerment is sought. The article presents the results of a study of the opportunities, limitations and effectiveness of training for people with intellectual disabilities. Barriers to trainees and trainers were discussed, recommendations were made.
