Globalization causes diverse and complex economic, political, cultural and social changes in societies, creating both new opportunities and risks. Emerging health risks impact global health and healthcare systems and raise a number of questions concerning their global management with a view to achieving the Millennium Development Goals. The report presents current issues related to global health and examines the impact on it of factors such as cross-border transmission of infections, population migration and mobility, production and supply of pharmaceutical products, global health governance, etc. Overcoming these problems requires a deepening of international synergy in policies and activities aimed at global health, as well as a global approach and comprehensiveness of the implemented initiatives with a special focus on the determinants of health. The report examines the role of global solidarity and makes health equity a sustainable trend to address the health risks of vulnerable populations around the world and to ensure “health for all.”
