This text clarifies the chronological boundaries in the historical development of tourist guiding. These are traced according to the chronological division of time periods accepted in historical scholarship. The unfolding of the historical research continuum (temporal sequence) of tourist guiding is generally presented chronologically in three thematic stages. The distinct research stages reflect the genesis, peculiarities and internal dynamics of the development of the historical processes in tour guiding aligned with the changes that have occurred in the tourist reality. A special place is allocated to the prerequisite for the origin of tourism and its historical periods; also, to the emergence of practical guiding. Attention is drawn on the objective logical and chronological landmarks in guiding history. The path of historical guiding knowledge is also traced, along with its impact on uniting past and present in the contextual dependencies of guiding as a science.
