Abstract:
The article analyzes the essence of the principle of immediacy and the exceptions to it in criminal proceedings. It substantiates the conclusion that, in view of the current criminal procedural framework, immediacy cannot be regarded as a fundamental principle of contemporary Bulgarian criminal procedure but should instead be considered solely as a principle applicable to the activities of the investigating authorities.
