Abstract:

The reforms in the political system in Bulgaria are usually confined to changes in the electoral system. The government is not directly affected by the evolution of the party system, and its effectiveness does not directly depend on the number of political parties. The stability of the party system is not the only criterion for assessing the political representation. Proposals to change the electoral system are primarily aimed at reducing the number of parties in order to form one-party parliamentary majority. However, these majorities do not always achieve political stability.
