Abstract:

History and history teaching play an important role in the development of the personal, national, and European identity. They are key factors for reconciliation and the strengthening of democracy in Southeastern Europe (SEE). Hence, work in this sphere can help ensure long-term stability in the region. The article dwells on the spread and activities of the History project in the SEE region, focusing on the theoretical framework of history teaching, the heritage, the challenges, and the modern interactive history teaching methodology. The second part of the article focuses on the oral history methodology as a source of present-day education and its possible use in primary and secondary school education.
