Abstract:
The article examines the place of the church-historical tradition of the Archbishopric of Justinianа Prima in the medieval traditions of the autocephaly of the Archbishopric of Ohrid (Achrida). This tradition is secondary connected to the tradition of the Bulgarian Patriarchate, which is based the idea then to the right of the Archbishopric of Ohrid to be autocephalous. Over the next centuries the dual tradition, which already rested idea of autocephaly of the Archbishopric of Ohrid – at the same time as the heir of the Autocephalous Archbishopric of Justiniana Prima, and heirof the Patriarchate of the First Bulgarian Tsardom – become irrevocable and award-winning foundation of the existence of this distinct church. As a result ofthis dual traditionthe archbishops of Ohrid used the official titlein the form of archbishop of Justiniana Prima [Ohrid] and all Bulgaria.
