Abstract:

Upon the return of Peter Kropotkin from emigration to revolutionary Russia, great changes took place in his socio-political views. They were reflected in the change in assessments and interpretations of many provisions of Kropotkin’s anarchist theory. This applies to basic provisions, such as the attitude to the state and war, to federalism and self-government in the state, and to the Bolshevik revolution. Kropotkin’s support for a democratic federal republic as a transitional stage on the way to the formation of an anarchic social structure is viewed by the author as Kropotkin’s anarcho-reformist views. These changes were not understood among Russian anarchists in 1917–1921.
