Abstract:
The fall of Bulgaria under Ottoman rule led to significant political, administrative and economic changes, as well as to substantial demographic variations. This work is devoted to the study of the natural movement of the population inhabiting Bulgarian territories in the period between the 15th and 18th centuries. The analysis of the sources and the available historiography concludes that the impact on the natural movements of this population was rather negative. However, the existing demographic potential has been preserved, ensuring its prosperity in the future.
