Резюме:

The article presents several definitions of the genesis of the neighborhood in the Ottoman Empire. The general conclusions are compared to one of the largest cities in Rumelia, namely Filibe. The city may be characterized by the presence of several different confessional communities. It is remarkable to have two separate neighborhoods of Gypsies professing Islam and Christianity, formed at the beginning of the 17th century. It all comes to show that Filibe’s development in the 16th and 17th centuries is a splendid example of the Ottoman invasion of the city. They completely change the look of the city by creating new territorial communities. A process inevitably going hand in hand with the construction of administrative and religious buildings to serve the imperial power. The Christian population gradually relinquished their positions in the vertical urban space. As is known in history, hiatuses do not exist. Released emptied urban spaces are immediately absorbed by the Ottomans, who define their new look. And in the 17th century he reached a large economic center.
