The article analyzes the Bulgarian translation (published in 1907) of a decree issued by Sultan Mustafa III in 1773 and dealing with the relationship between the Ahi brotherhood and the Ottoman guilds. The translator Diamandi Ihchiev has significantly extended the original text by adding new paragraphs and phrases. The analysis of his interpolations shows that they do not modify drastically the content of the decree but make it more clear and comprehensible for the audience. In addition, a new more adequate translation is suggested.
