In the beginning of the 20th century, the activity of the state had increased and the activities of the charity organizations were extended to support and protect the most vulnerable part of society – the children. New forms of support and care have emerged, including summer student colonies. The purpose of the study is to present the founding information about the life and activity of Dr. Nevena Sabeva Popova, who worked diligently and tirelessly to implement the idea of organizing of summer school colonies in Veliko Tarnovo and who had great merits for the creation of a charity organization „Zdravets“ as a leading center in carrying out this noble work.
