Резюме:
The medieval fortress town of Cherven is located 30 km south of Ruse. Numerous rock monasteries arose in its vicinity in the 12th – 14th centuries, and this was no coincidence. The conceptual model presented here focuses on four sites that are the basis of the idea of developing cultural-historical tourism in the area. The rock church in Moskov Dol is located 1.1 km from the village of Cherven. The temple has one nave, one apse, and a narthex. Seven graves are dug into its floor. Under the apse there is a stone bench–sintron. The church was richly frescoed. The rock hermitage Golyam Rai Monastery is located 1.7 km north of the village. It consists of two premises. The northern one is a natural cave. The southern one has a rectangular shape and meticulous artificial finishing of the walls. It was divided in two, there is a grave in its floor. There was mural decoration. The rock monastery Malak Rai Monastery is located 3 km north of the village. It is located on three levels with rock cells and a church. A grave has been carved into the eastern part of the vestibule. The ceiling was divided into fields in which scenes from the Bible were depicted. The Koshuta rock monastery is located 2.5 km north of the village of Cherven. It is a small monastic hermitage, with two chain-connected rooms. Its walls are very well leveled, there are three graves in the floor.
