Резюме:

Bulgaria‘s road to the Far East is long and continuous. This is due to the long distance between the countries and the lack of imminent polit ical and economic interests. Until the end of World War I, Bulgaria‘s rela tions with distant Asia were isolated and sporadic, mostly through the first forums of multilateral diplomacy such as the international peace confer ences in The Hague. The kingdom‘s contacts with the Far East, particularly Japan, became consistent from the 1930s onwards, and with the outbreak of the Second World War they developed on an official level following the establishment of diplomatic ties. The Bulgarian diplomats in Tokyo, Yanko Peev and Stoyan Petrov-Chomakov, contributed to the mutual acquaintance between the two nations.
