Abstract:

The prose of Sylvia Tomova doesn’t leave the reader in the comfort of cultural cliche and popular mythology of civilization. In "Titus from Nikomedia" she dared to replace a classic question, born around the body idealized mythology - what gaves us Christianity - with another, unexpected question - What it took? And in "The Printer" she continues to ask unexpected questions, to choose surprising perspectives, looking underthe hoods of myths unclarified of cultural inertia. And in "The Printer" the narrative easily leaving Bulgarian borders, The Balkan world, gets to the heart of Europe. Silvia Tomova has taste to universal themes. At the core of her story is always the meeting of the worlds, religions, civilizations between “here” and “beyond”. These meetings give birth to quakes, provide historical attractiveness of the story, but also challenge the people - not to seek out but at herself answers, moral principles, way.
