Abstract:

This article is an attempt at analysing the different types of time and space models and the creative methods of their textual harmonization in Ivajlo Petrov’s novel “Ground-sea-swell”. For the Bulgarian literature the time and space problem has acquired a new meaning in the structure of writing since the second half of the twentieth century. The signs of time and space are not only a metaphor or a moral category, but they also become a basic structural part of the literary texts, which organize the plot, the composition, the characters and the motives. This article gives notes about the interaction between the mythological and the historical time and space. Two very different models of life, thinking and viewpoint are introduced in Ivajlo Petrov’s novel. The joint of the separated parts of time and space in the novel’s text become possible only by human view. The man in the novel is closely linked up with the mythological past as well as the historical reality, but their oneness in the person’s consciousness would be the only alternative for the future human being.
