Abstract:

The article examines perception as a process of interaction between the individual and the text. This interaction is examined in its cognitive, verbal and modal aspects. The success of communication depends not only on its two components – the individual and the text, but also on their interaction. Important for this process is also the background knowledge of the addressees, their motivation and their engagement in the given act of communication.
