Abstract:
A.T.-Balan, as well as F. de Saussure distinguished between
the language and the speech as two different research objects. He
knew the essential Saussure’s work and he quote from it’s second ed.
(Cours de linguistique générale, Paris 1922), as well as from work of
his continuator (Charle Bally. Le langage et la vie. Généve 1913). He
noticed the connection between F. de Saussure and the Prague
Linguistic Circle. The Bulgarian scientist knew the methodological
principles of the PLC and he applied the functional approach in his
studies.
