Abstract:
The article presents some basic mechanisms of using the Internet as a tool that assists translation. Analysed are the advantages and disadvantages of these mechanisms in terms of their applicability to the practice of present-day translators. The power of Internet support is presented in juxtaposition with the characteristics of computerassisted translation and qualified as an integral part of professional translation work related to the current “explosion” of information, the processes of globalization and software specialization. Examples illustrating the phenomena are taken from Bulgarian and Polish sources.
