Abstract:
The Polish literary group “Skamander” presents a typical example of a situation literary group. It became the most significant literary project of the interwar period and greatly influenced Polish readers. However, in writers’ memoirs, published after the Second World War, the group’s popularity appears to be problematic. The collective legend about it is presented as an element of its members’ early biographies, which they later rejected as part of an attempt to highlight the universal character of their creative activities.
