Abstract:

Modern Bulgarian Bessarabian Prose was established in the 1980s. It was created by authors born and raised in the Bulgarian villages of a region which is today part of Ukraine and Moldova. The article is based on a survey questionnaire submitted by three of these authors. It starts with an introduction to these authors’ portraits as creative writers, followed by biographical details about the way they acquired command of literary Bulgarian, how they became familiar with national Bulgarian prose, about the reception and appreciation of Bulgarian Bessarabian intellectuals’ achievements etc. Special attention is devoted to the themes which these three authors introduce to modern Bulgarian Bessarabian prose.
