Abstract:

The article highlights key moments in the life and creative path of the Tarnovo poet Nikolay Kolev (1943 – 2005) and to his major publications. It discusses characteristic features of the poetics of his work, which reflects the explorations and achievements of Bulgarian poets from Modernism to the 1980s. The poems of N. Kolev constitute a distinctive summation of contemporary Bulgarian lyric poetry, as he is among the finest representatives of the so-called “silent poetry”. His name, therefore, should be associated with the beginnings of the distinct Tarnovo wave within the broader context of silent poetry.

Keywords:

contemporary Bulgarian poetry; silent poetry; Tarnovo wave; Nikolay Kolev.
