Abstract:

Augusta Traiana minted the coins from the times of emp. Mark Aurelius and his brother L. Verus to emperor Galienus. Coinage of Augusta Traiana is an integral part of Roman provincial coinage. Besides the typical deities of the Greco-Roman pantheon, on the coins are presented and Eastern deities. Egyptian deities as Harpocrates, Isis and Serapis had been minted on the pseudoautonomous cons of the town, that have no images of the emperors. Harpocrates only appears on the coins minted by emperor Geta The images of Serapis and Cybela are often presented on the Augusta Traiana coins. Serapis appears on coins minted by emperors M. Aurelius, Sept. Severus. J. Domna, Caracalla and Geta. Cybela is on the coins of M. Aurelius, L. Verus, S. Severus, Caracalla and Geta.
