Abstract:
The Medical University – Varna offers instruction for foreign students in Bulgarian and English. The presentation specifies the research on the reading skills for social adaptation and professional realization of foreigners studying Bulgarian as a foreign language. It presents a new model for the acquisition of the receptive skills reading. Through comparative analysis methodology, texts for levels A2 and B1 are explored according to the following criteria: 1. theme 2. vocabulary 3. grammar 4. graphic system 5. punctuation. The paper focused on the theme of the texts for reading comprehension in Bulgarian as a foreign language, offering a modern approach to their construction according to the examination system ECL. In terms of the need for adaptation of foreigners in Bulgarian language environment study assumes that Bulgarian cultural sites are important as the subject of the texts for reading comprehension. Cultural sites suggests different formal expressions of the language in the text to read. The article establishes the modern principle of introducing new vocabulary on the model of concentric circles. The report points towards the nature of reading comprehension as an active skill.
