Abstract:

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to many changes in people’s lives and has had a negative impact on a number of economic sectors, including tourism. The new reality has also led to new specifics in tourist demand. Building the image of safe destinations is imperative for the development of international tourism. Therefore, the article examines the best practices in leading receptive destinations and in Bulgaria in terms of the certification process to ensure safe tourism in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusions are made about the advantages and disadvantages of the different approaches in the development and implementation of safe travel certificates.
