Ethical Code

of the journal Theologicon

In its dealings with authors and reviewers as well as with the Publishing House, the Editorial Board of the yearly journal Theologicon abides by the following Ethical Code:

  • The Editorial Board of Theologicon consists of regular professors from the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo, as well as of prominent scholars from all over the world;
  • The authors are fully responsible for the originality and for the scientific contribution of their research, as well as for the honest and correct citation of the sources;
  • The journal accepts unpublished papers and reviews, which comply with the technical requirements;
  • The reviewers sign a declaration according to which they shall evaluate materials, provided that there is no conflict of interest or any prejudice regarding the texts or their authors;
  • Depending on the opinion in the reviews, a paper could be returned for emendations or rejected. The final decision of the Editorial Board should not be discussed with third parties. If a proposed paper receives two contradictory opinions, it shall be consigned to an arbitrator for final evaluation;
  • The journal shall publish texts, which give expression to the author’s opinion without damaging the reputation of the opponents, and provided there are no propagandistic, unconstitutional or illegal statements;
  • A certificate for acceptance for publishing is issued only after the final positive decision of the Editorial Board based on evaluation of the double blind peer review;
  • The Editorial Board provides a correct layout of the manuscript for print, co-ordinates with the Publishing House the timely release of the journal and submits an electronic version of the journal Theologicon to the Publishing House of the University of Veliko Tarnovo.
