Abstract:

Multi-dimensionality of Biblical icons cannot be reduced to purely biological life achievement, or the physical mode of existence; the meanings of Biblical icons and likeness to God culminate in the service-symbolic mode of existence. In this regard, on the one hand, the nature „in itself” proves that all beings that play any part in life, within comprehensive processes of decay „die with difficulty”, not giving themselves to the „naturalness” of death. Every form of life keeps its life beats until the end, until death. On the other hand, however, a man without God has no power that could deliver him from death, which is why God comes into the world to have „the world be saved through him” (Jn. 3, 17), which comprises a unique point of view both regarding the fact that the Lord would be embodied even if the man had not sinned, and also regarding the fact that the Lord takes human nature to deliver people from the bondage of of death. Because the Lord establishes the liturgically symbolic mode of existence as a way of salvation from death, a man with his abilities cannot escape death in any other way. Therefore, in the writings of both the Divine Dionysius the Areopagite and St. Maximus the Confessor and the liturgical life of the Orthodox Church a particular participatory approach is noticed to the established „liturgical-andreiky“ nature of virtue. In this way „andreia” does not apply to the natural features of males or females, but to participation in a particular mode of existence in which „andreia” comes from the Lord. By following mystagogia liturgical-symbolic hymns of the Orthodox Church, but also the words of the apostle Paul, we are free to determine feminisation not as ontological expression of the features of women’s nature, but rather as the way of indulging the corporal in general. Because of this distinction of sexes in liturgical sense does not mean dividing the community during times of active ecclesial ministry, as church services are actually iconic similes to the archetype or Christological goal as transcendence of every division.
