Abstract:
Although the notion „charismatic” has been neglected by the majority of contemporary Orthodox Christian theologians it doesn’t seem to be unsuitable to describe the common idea and perspective of the Orthodox Theology of the 21. century exactly through it. From Florovskys „neopatristic” synthesis, through Meyendorfs „neopalamism” and Schmemanns liturgical Theology, to Zizioulas’ patristic existentialism a dominant accent on the personal experience of spirituality can be noticed. The paper deals with the question of the possibility of denoting the Orthodox Christian Theology as charismatic through consulting contemporary and classical theological sources. Special attention will be paid to the connection between charismatic Theology and Ecclesiology and more precise to the question to which extent the historical existence of the Church is conditioned by the charismatic experience of the believers, as well as to the significance of its philosophical, ascetical, ethical, pastoral, liturgical, missionary and ecumenical implications.
