Luke’s Understanding of the Apostolic Ministry

Abstract:

The present article identifies several stages in the development of reflections about the apostolic ministry in the early Christianity with particular emphasis on the assessment of this ministry in the theology of St. Luke. In this context, discussion includes topics such as the (non)existence of the analogy with external, non-Christian institutions, significance of the eschatological perspective for the Luke’s theology as well as some basic criteria for his understanding of the authentic apostolic ministry.
