Abstract:
National crafts are symbols of diligence and promotors of aesthetic ideals in Bulgaria through the centuries. For this reason they have to be known, studied and preserved in their original mode. Initiative to found a high school for studying crafts with technics and technologies from modern applied arts was long process in Veliko Tdrnovo. Initiators of this idea are two artists – Peter Kantchev and Nediyalko Karaneshev. They organized preparatory courses for future students in the Academy some years before its foundation. In 1926 the foundation stone was officially laid. There was discussion about programmes and crafts that would be studied in temporary and permanent courses. But for the lack of money the project finished at this stage.
