Abstract:

The article discusses issues related to higher education in Art Studies / Visual Culture, which become more pronounced during the distance learning. The peculiarities of the Bulgarian condition – without reliable museums and world collections – are examined. The text is structured in the following parts: I The rapid growth of the Internet since 2000 has caused a turmoil in the world of art (of what we conditionally call so); ІІ The spread of the Internet and the globalization of the market significantly change the conditions of education: 1 Contradictory experience in the time of lockdown, 2 Change of expectations towards the institutions of knowledge (for art / visual culture); III Need for media literacy.
