Abstract:
The text presents a specific concept of the sustainable city and highlights the importance of the cultural infrastructure and the multifunctionality of spaces in the cities of ХХIst century. The researcher’s vision is aimed at innovative projects, related to the vanguard technologies and artifacts with an important image role in the strategic development of urban brands. The object of the study is the modern sustainable and sheltering city with its main identifications and advantages in the dynamic process of urbanization. The subject of the study are important achievements in the creative planning of place and cultural infrastructure in megacities such as Shanghai in China and Barcelona in Spain, highlighted by researchers as some of the most successful urban brands, implementing effective sustainable development policies. Two main methods are applied for the research purposes: case study and comparative method.
