Abstract:
The article outlines the connection between social processes and the transformation of topic and narrative in 19th-century art. Subjects of the research of this paper are artists from the 19th century whose artworks depict social and psychological human conditions. These artists aimed to redirect viewers’ attention towards poverty, labor, injustices, conflicts and political environment by providing a social and critical context.
