Abstract:

A number of artists, representatives of modern and contemporary art, discover the mysterious, imaginary world of children’s drawings, expressing it in a unique way in their works. Others direct their attention to primitive and folk creativity from different cultures and traditions, in whose immediacy and decorativeness they find external similarity with some characteristic elements of children’s creativity. A child’s drawing with its specific naivety, expressiveness and peculiar tonality is the basis on which the well-known aesthetic movement based on Naivism is built, uniting artists of a whole generation. The art of Naivism shows unsuspected and strong emotions, primary purity, and power of expression by which it approaches children’s drawings to a certain extent, with its simplicity and frankness, revealing new horizons in the stylistics of the artists of that time.
