Abstract:

The age of the 11 – 12 years olds, considered in the article, is rather to be defined as a border between two ages, then as a transition from one age into another. At the age of 12 the child is still a child, however, the ongoing in its organism changes make it think as an adult. This is what makes this period so problematic and simultaneous so essential from a pedagogical point of view. The changes that occur in the perceptions, in the cognitive and mental processes, provide an appropriate basis for acquainting the child with more sophisticated forms of descriptive expression. Rich ground for this purpose is the graphic artworks. Main features of the process of perception which are relevant to the degree of attainment of the content of the graphic artworks, treated in the article are: the characteristics of the artwork (means of expression, visual structure, semantic load and complexity of image), the characteristics of the perceiver (it individual qualities, age, imagination, cognitive experience, level of cultural signs and symbols command, direction of thoughts and attention, interests, etc.), as well as the characteristics of the environment where the process of cognition is done.In conclusion, an inference is drawn from the relations that have been created between the graphic artwork, the child of 11 – 12, and the art image, and this is what makes the topic of present interest.
