Abstract:

The issue with the symbolic nature of a child’s drawing is one of the most widely examined in the psychology of pictorial art. It still lacks a reasoned explanation. First of all, the problem with terminology needs to be solved. This, according to researchers, is utterly complicated as it is almost impossible to distinguish the symbol from its meaning no matter how independent they may be in theory. Solving this would allow us to follow the development of drawing as an act of symbolism and connect this proccess to the development of children’s symbolic thinking. Also, this would enable us to make use of the positive symbols in drawing during the educational process.
