Abstract:
The article reflects on data and personal impressions on contemporary early foreign language education in Norway and Sweden. The significance of the English language in these Scandinavian societies is emphasized. The English language is being perceived not as an obligatory foreign language the educational systems, but as a second national language in these two countries.
