Резюме:

Gregory Tsamblak wrote the “Vita of Saint King Stefan of Dečani” at the end of the 14th century, during his rule as a Hegumen in the Serbian Visoki Dečani monastery. This work is connected with the recognition of the royal authority of King Stefan Uroş III. The Saint-king is undoubtedly idealized – he is a martyr, blinded by his father at the instigation of the Devil. Later, thanks to his great faith in God, he restored his sight; reigned piously; he was surrounded with charity and prayers; fought against heresy; took care of the leprous and endowed them with a hospital, built a monastery where he was buried after his death. His relics worked wonders. In his entire pathway of life the agiographic character enjoyed the protection of Saint Nicholas, and even “met” him on three occasions. The present research aims at the treatment of the question why Gregory Tsamblak decided to bind the fate of Stefan Uroş III to St. Nicholas the Miracle- Maker and studies the development of the cult of this saint in Serbia, as well as its subsequent transfer (through this work) to Russia
