The text presents lamentations in funeral and memorial rites in the region of Golloborda. This region remained in the Albanian territory at the time when Albania was formed as an independent country in 1912–1913 during the Balkan War. The Bulgarian villages in East Albania were 21, while 6 (or 2) remained in the territory of the western part of present day Republic of Macedonia. Lamentations are still functioning as part of preserved funeral and memorial rites in force both for Christians and Muslims in Golloborda. After a fieldwork observation and recording the author analyzes Gollobordian lamentations – who laments, when, what is the “scheme” of lamentation in the funeral and memorial rites, what is their text and musical content etc. The existence of Golloborda’s community in Albanian ethnic, linguistic and culture context hasn’t affected neither traditional song folklore, nor funeral lamentation rites of Golloborda’s inhabitants. They have their verbal and musical signs that incorporate them into Bulgarian and wider – into Slave funeral lamentation rites.
