Резюме:
The paper analyses the correspondence of Blanche of Castile, the queen of France. The contents of the letters, either written by Blanche or addressed to her, present the portrait of an extraordinary active and authoritative woman. Having become a widow still in her thirties, she took over the government of the kingdom for long periods of time, and demonstrated remarkable ability to cope with complicated conflict situations. Blanche’s self-confidence of a ruling queen is obvious in her letters while in those addressed to her, most often her assistance is sought as a figure with great influence in the kingdom and over the king even in periods of time when she actually was not ruling the state as regent.
