Резюме:
The deep resentment against the unwillingness of the Austrian authorities to stick to their promises as well as the active Russian policy in the Balkans in the middle of 18th century provoked thousands of Balkan Christians to leave their homes in search of better living conditions. Advancing toward the warm seas, the Russian army initially undertook assimilation of the southern territories as military-agricultural colonization. The Balkan Christians, who were settled in the newly created military-administrative territorial units of New Serbia and Slavo-Serbia, formed voluntary regiments to resist Turkish and Tatar threats. The article deals with different viewpoints on the historical destiny of the so-called Macedonian hussar regiment, which was among these regiments.
