Резюме:

In Bulgarian historiography, information about Archimandrite Filaret of Varna is rare and fragmentary, and comes from scarce documents and isolated facts about his life. He was a spokesman for the Bulgarian intellectual circle. He studied and formed his personality at two of the most important educational institutions at the time – the Kiev Theological Academy and the Halki Theological School. The study focuses on Filaret’s written works which he authored in the spirit of Orthodox tradition during his studies in Halki. At the moment, there is no other reliable information on Archimandrite Filaret’s literary activity in the archives of the School of Theology apart from his manuscript letters, ecclesiastical speeches and written works in Greek. Although they are rare, these works are a valuable source in terms of his personality. They portray the image of a Renaissance individual and an Orthodox clergyman clearly and convincingly
