Резюме:

In the 18th century, Russian rulers, following imperial politics, purposefully used the migrant movements of Balkan Christians from the Ottoman and the Habsburg Empires to suit their own ends. By participating in the creation of military formations in the southern Russian suburbs, the Balkan migrants undoubtedly contributed to Russia’s military and strategic plans. Later, by analogy with the disbanded regiments of the Slavic Hussars in the Austrian monarchy, the Russian Empire operated in a similar manner due to a change in its military border. After the annexation of the Crimean Khanate in 1783, the need for military colonists ended. That is why Balkan settlers, including Bulgarians, were gradually equated to the legal status of the local population.
