The dynamics of social enterprise development in Bulgaria and the need of combining various financial sources is pushing ahead the use of flexible strategies to secure access to funding. The current report is reviewing the role and contribution of project financing for the development of social enterprises in order to increase their competitiveness and maximize their social impact. The research is focusing on the impact generated by project financing at organizational and community level as well as reviewing the opportunities to foster social entrepreneurship in the rural areas in Bulgaria. The research methodology includes analyses of the project funding and opportunities to finance social enterprises within the European social fund. A special focus is placed on the available project funding within the community led local development approach which is applied through Local initiative groups that can be used for social entrepreneurship and social innovations in the rural areas.
