Abstract:
The issue of global and regional security in the contemporary world has once again become quite significant because of the predatory role of the mega capital and its odyssey in the recolonialization of the world. The paper analyses the implications of various development strategies for the increase (or decrease) in social and regional inequalities and conflicts. The paper problematizes the influence of the dominant development and governance strategy and the system of division of social power on the global and regional geopolitics and conflictology today. It focuses on the comparative analysis of the consequences of the neoliberal strategy of globalism and of the social democratic model, i.e. on the influence of the former on growing contradictions and heightened conflicts, and that of the latter on conflict pacification and democratic governance for the sake of social progress. The paper also analyses the regional aspects of the current conflicts in the Middle East and their impact on the phenomenon of refugee migrations, as an expression of contradictions within capitalism and of the geopolitical confrontations destabilizing the world and blocking its peaceful and democratic development. The paper concludes that without global justice there can be no global peace, and that global peace is prerequisite for global progress and development.
